What is Java?
Sure, It is a common question from non-tech users. While talking with a bus conductor he asked me "I have Java on my phone but please, explain what is Java".
It's important to note the widespread acceptance of the Java technology on mobile devices and also know the benefits to have Java embedded on your phone. Every technology has benefits and faults. At this point of view there isn't difference with Java technology.
Like many others Java can be used to produce and run games and softwares on cellphones and computers.
If you want learn more and maybe make a game for your cellphone you can start here.
I will be glad to help you in this new journey

Sony Ericsson cross-breeds Java and Flash
In a move sure to spark protests over 'Frankenstein code' Sony Ericsson has done what no human being had previously thought possible - it has created a new tool that enables developers to combine aspects of Java and Flash technology in a single app.
Project Capuchin (as in the type of monkey) will be made available by SE in the second half of this year, after a showcase at Sun Microsystems' Java One conference next week.
In short, Project Capuchin will allow 'pure Flash Lite content to be encapsulated in Java ME applications', with the help of Sony Ericsson Developer World tools.
SE says more advanced capabilities will make it possible to create Java ME applications where some or all UI components are defined in Flash.
Rikko Sakaguchi, SVP and head of portfolio and proposition at Sony Ericsson, said: "[We are] excited to introduce our new bridging technology to the global developer community as it further strengthens our relationship with this community and underscores our ongoing commitment to support an open, healthy and thriving mobile ecosystem."
Gary Kovacs, general manager and VP for mobile and devices at Adobe," added: "Using Adobe Flash technology as one part of this new bridging technology will ensure further innovation for mobile users when Flash developers gain access to the Java applications’ functionality and intelligence allowing them to create applications with the ultimate user experience."
via ME
Jarpa Framework created by i2tecnologia and Alessandro Pace have been doing the same but without manufacture support. I hope to see how many devices will support this 'new' technology and how Capuchin are doing this interaction.
Adobe Flash Lite 4 or Adobe AIR Mobile?! What is coming?!?!
As part of the today's announce of Microsoft Silverlight for Nokia S60/S40 devices and the announce of Google Gears Mobile for Internet Explorer Mobile on Windows Mobile 5 and 6, I'm thinking about What is coming on Flash Lite 4?! will Adobe replace Flash Lite for AIR/Flex mobile?!
I'm very confused at this time and I'm going to make some questions for Adobe Mobile Team:
What are the plans for the next Flash Mobile platform?
Are you planning to hearing what developer’s would like to see in Flash Lite 4 or Adobe AIR Mobile?
Are there any efforts from Adobe to porting the Flash Lite Player for Google Android?

How to protect Flash Lite content with OMA DRM 1.0
Developers, content providers, and operators are all involved in protecting mobile content. Digital Right Management (DRM) is an important issue in the mobile world and it is a complex environment to work with. Open Mobile Alliance DRM (OMA DRM) can be used to protect Flash Lite content. OMA DRM has two specifications 1.0 and 2.0. Both DRM solve the same problem – protecting content. I will briefly explain the differences in OMA DRM 1.0 and OMA DRM 2.0 and how to apply OMA DRM 1.0 Forward Lock to Flash Lite content. Note that this is not an easy topic and it is important to understand all entities involved in the process of protecting content.
Alessandro, thanks for sharing!
Skyfire browser for Mobile supports Flash 9 Content
I just found a new mobile browser called SkyFire. It supports embedded content such as Flash 9, QuickTime, Java and more. It claims that its software offers desktop browsing speeds on a handheld, with no restrictions over media content display and accessibility.
The Skyfire private beta will initially support Windows Mobile phones in the U.S. In the coming months, they will introduce a version for Symbian phones. Other phone platforms and geographies are on the roadmap too.

PAMP: Portable Apache MySQL PHP for Symbian Devices (N95)
From Nokia Labs:
The acronym AMP refers to a solution stack of software, usually free software / open-source software, used to run dynamic Web sites or servers. The original expansion is as follows:
* Apache, the Web server;
* MySQL, the database management system (or database server);
* PHP and sometimes Perl or Python, the programming languages.
The combination of these technologies is used primarily to define a web server infrastructure, define a programming paradigm of developing software, and establish a software distribution package.
Supported Devices
PAMP has been developed using:
- Nokia E90 and
- Nokia N95 8GB
that both have 128MB of RAM, but any S60 3rd Edition device with 128MB of memory should be fine.
PAMP has successfully been installed and tried on N95 and E61i that both have 64MB of RAM and if you primarily just want to run MySQL they and any S60 3rd Edition device with 64MB RAM should be fine.
I also found a great review from Maximiliano Firtman's Forum Nokia Blog. humm.. maybe a day I will see Flex Data Services running on my Nokia Device! I really want this!
