Adobe Flash Lite 4 or Adobe AIR Mobile?! What is coming?!?!

As part of the today's announce of Microsoft Silverlight for Nokia S60/S40 devices and the announce of Google Gears Mobile for Internet Explorer Mobile on Windows Mobile 5 and 6, I'm thinking about What is coming on Flash Lite 4?! will Adobe replace Flash Lite for AIR/Flex mobile?!

I'm very confused at this time and I'm going to make some questions for Adobe Mobile Team:

What are the plans for the next Flash Mobile platform?
Are you planning to hearing what developer’s would like to see in Flash Lite 4 or Adobe AIR Mobile?
Are there any efforts from Adobe to porting the Flash Lite Player for Google Android?

  1. For what it’s worth, I don’t recall yet seeing any estimates for delivery of the next generation of Flash Lite capabilities.

I believe Kevin Lynch showed demos of Mobile AIR this past week, but don’t have a link. We need Flash Lite for the browser-based “mobile web”, and need AIR for standalone application support.

Last I checked, the hardware partners for Google Android already rely on Flash Lite in their distributions… the Android stack specifies low-level capabilities, and leaves feature support up to distributors.

  2. Felipe, just sent you an email about an event where you might find out more about the Adobe Mobile “roadmap”.

  3. Im with John Dowdell.

Flash Lite 4 for the Web browser and AIR Mobile for Standalone applications.

I think that it’s the natural way for the Flash applications in desktop, therefore for mobile devices it must be the same.

    Cheers.
